MD Program Specifics

Admissions Requirements

A minimum of 90 credit hours (or equivalent) is required from a regionally accredited undergraduate institution and the completion of the required courses below prior to matriculation:

  • Biology with Lab: one academic year with laboratory experience.
  • General/Inorganic Chemistry with Lab: one academic year.
  • Organic Chemistry with Lab: one academic year. Biochemistry / Molecular Biology / Genetics may be substituted for organic chemistry.
  • Mathematics: one semester of college-level mathematics, calculus, or statistics highly recommended.
  • English: any non-science courses that involve expository writing will satisfy this requirement.
  • Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) scores are required for U.S. applicants (and strongly encouraged for all applicants).

Program Advantages

  • Clinical exposure starts the first month of the degree program and continues throughout all terms. These experiences provide a strong foundation for the development of patient interaction skills required during the clinical portion of a student’s education.
  • The faculty at Trinity School of Medicine are highly-qualified credentialed educators who are passionate about teaching.
  • We provide a low student-to-faculty ratio, a non-competitive environment, and supportive faculty, allowing students to focus on what’s most important for their success.
  • Students receive specialized support from the Academic Counseling Team (ACT), a group composed of members of the faculty, student advisors, and the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs. The goal of the ACT is to provide support and promote effective solutions for student success.

Defined Program Objectives

Each course has learning objectives and includes a plan that will guide students through mastery of those objectives, including:

  • The use of appropriate assessment tools to ensure students meet the required objectives.
  • Exams that assess student preparation, participation, critical thinking skills, and knowledge application.
  • Evaluation through various formats that assess each student’s capabilities to demonstrate problem-solving skills and professional conduct.
  • Successful education and application of the required principles to prepare each student to be successful, caring, and compassionate physicians.

Clinical Transition Term

Trinity’s clinical sciences program, which encompasses Terms 5 through 10, provides students with an immersion into clinical medicine in both hospital and physician practice settings. This portion of students’ clinical education is provided in partnership with the Houston Healthcare system in central Georgia. Houston facilities include two fully accredited acute care medical facilities, Houston Medical Center and Perry Hospital, as well as the Houston Healthcare Pavilion in Warner Robins, Georgia. The Houston Healthcare Pavilion is where the residency program resides along with physician offices, conference rooms, and training facilities for medical students. Here, Trinity students preparing for and engaged in clerkships benefit from a dedicated learning center, complete with access to clinical tutorials and individual and group study spaces.
