The Optimum Learning Environment

Clinical Sciences Program

Becoming a Doctor of Medicine

Trinity’s clinical sciences program, which encompasses Terms 5 through 10, provides students with an immersion into clinical medicine in both hospital and physician practice settings. This portion of students’ clinical education is provided in partnership with the Houston Healthcare system in central Georgia. Houston facilities include two fully accredited acute care medical facilities, Houston Medical Center and Perry Hospital, as well as the Houston Healthcare Pavilion in Warner Robins, Georgia. The Houston Healthcare Pavilion houses the Dr. W. Douglas Skelton Medical Education Center, where the residency program resides along with physician offices, conference rooms, and training facilities for medical students. Here, Trinity students preparing for and engaged in clerkships benefit from a dedicated learning center, complete with access to clinical tutorials and individual and group study spaces. Trinity clinical students also have access to an additional learning center located on hospital grounds, which is exclusive to Trinity students. This space was designed for students to have a place to take a break between rotations, study in private rooms, meet with colleagues, or even take a shower.

Trinity provides students the kind of clinical experience you would expect from a U.S. medical school. All rotations are scheduled by a Trinity clerkship administrator. Students rotate with a low preceptor-to-student ratio and can complete their full 48 weeks of core rotations in one location at our affiliated hospitals and clinics – no moving around from city to city, no waiting for rotations slots to open and no gaps between rotations. This is a huge benefit for both quality of life and cost of living. Trinity also offers a wide range of away electives in many different specialties in programs located  across the country.
