Clinical Transition Term

The focus of Term 5, known as the clinical transition term, is the integration of clinical sciences into the program our students have already completed in their basic sciences curriculum in Terms 1-4. Our Integrated Systems Review sessions utilize materials provided by Kaplan for preparation for the USMLE Step 1 exam, taken prior to the beginning of clinical rotations. This includes the Kaplan Q-Banks, study material, and assessment sessions, which are led by leading physicians, clinicians, and scientists. At the conclusion of their integrative training, clinicians will orient students to clinical presentation, clinical assessment, and treatment plans so they are well-prepared to start rotations.

Trinity students have an exceptional array of resources available to them during Term 5. The Dr. W. Douglas Skelton Medical Education Center provides 7,000 square feet of study space, where clinical faculty and student study groups can freely embody our team approach to the rigors of USMLE Step 1 preparation and clinical skills demonstration. Students have access to the hospital, residency, and clinical staff from Houston Healthcare System as well as access to medical simulation labs at nearby Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC). These resources provide a truly unique clinical training environment among international medical schools.
